In today’s globalized world, intercultural communication has become an essential component of education, professional interaction, and social life. This article examines the significance of awareness of cultural practices, communication styles, values, and sociolinguistic conventions in effective communication. The study emphasizes that language competence alone is not sufficient for successful interaction across cultures; rather, cultural and sociolinguistic awareness are equally necessary. The article analyzes how misunderstandings often arise when speakers are unfamiliar with culturally specific norms of politeness, indirectness, turn-taking, nonverbal behavior, and value systems. Using theoretical and analytical methods, the paper explores the role of intercultural competence in reducing communication barriers, promoting mutual respect, and increasing communicative effectiveness. The findings suggest that awareness of cultural and sociolinguistic differences enhances learners’ communicative competence, supports successful language learning, and prepares individuals for meaningful participation in multicultural environments
