This study explores the linguistic function of algorithm-driven vocabulary spread in English social media. It investigates how content recommendation algorithms on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube accelerate the creation, dissemination, and semantic evolution of new words and expressions. Using a corpus of 250 trending terms collected over six months, the study analyzes lexical formation, semantic shift, and pragmatic functions in various digital contexts. Findings indicate that algorithms not only speed up vocabulary adoption but also influence meaning and usage patterns, reflecting social identity and community norms. The study highlights the interplay between technology, language innovation, and communication in contemporary digital environments
