This article explores the linguistic features of jargon and slang in the English language, focusing on their formation, functions, and social significance. Jargon and slang are examined as dynamic elements of language that reflect professional practices, group identity, and cultural change. The study analyzes how these varieties differ from standard English in terms of vocabulary, semantics, and pragmatics, while still following systematic linguistic patterns. Special attention is given to the role of context in meaning interpretation and usage. The article argues that jargon and slang not only facilitate efficient communication within specific groups but also contribute to language innovation and evolution in modern English
