The translation of Uzbek proverbs into English presents significant challenges due to linguistic differences, cultural specificity, semantic depth, and stylistic variation. Proverbs function as condensed expressions of collective wisdom and reflect the historical, moral, and philosophical values of a society. Because they are culturally embedded and metaphorically structured, direct equivalence between Uzbek and English proverbs is rarely achievable. This study examines the main equivalence challenges encountered in translating Uzbek proverbs into English, focusing on linguistic, cultural, and semantic aspects.
