THE ROLE OF AUTHENTIC MATERIALS IMPROVING LISTENING COMPREHENSION IN ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE EFL CLASSROOMS

Abstrak

This article explores the significance of authentic materials in enhancing listening comprehension skills among learners of English as a Foreign Language (EFL). It examines how the use of real-life audio and video resources, such as podcasts, news reports, and interviews, can provide learners with exposure to natural language use, cultural nuances, and varied accents. The study highlights the benefits of incorporating authentic materials into EFL curricula, including increased engagement, motivation, and improved listening skills. Furthermore, it discusses strategies for effectively integrating these materials into classroom activities and assessments. The findings suggest that authentic materials not only facilitate better comprehension but also foster a deeper understanding of the language in context, ultimately leading to more effective communication skills
