Abstract

This article examines the transformative impact of digitalization and Artificial Intelligence (AI) on Uzbekistan’s economy as of early 2026. Driven by the "Digital Uzbekistan 2030" strategy, the nation has shifted from a cash-heavy, resource-based system to a dynamic, mobile-first financial ecosystem. Key milestones include the explosive growth of the fintech sector—now contributing to record banking profits of $1.2 billion—and the strategic rollout of the Digital Soum (CBDC) to enhance fiscal transparency. The integration of AI-driven credit scoring and the expansion of IT Park Uzbekistan have democratized economic opportunities, particularly for the nation’s large youth population and rural entrepreneurs. By formalizing the shadow economy and reducing administrative barriers, digitalization has become the primary catalyst for sustaining a 6% GDP growth rate. Ultimately, Uzbekistan’s digital evolution serves as a regional blueprint for leveraging technology to overcome geographical constraints and foster inclusive, high-tech national development
