COMBATING THE MISUSE OF ANTIBIOTICS AND ITS IMPACT ON PUBLIC HEALTH

This article is devoted to the issue of antibiotic resistance (AMR), its impact on public health, causes and ways of prevention are considered. Antibiotics are considered life-saving drugs in medicine. However, their incorrect, unnecessary and unsupervised use leads to the development of resistance in bacteria. As a result, even simple infections go untreated, hospitalization and costs increase. The article describes the causes of AMR (self-medication, incorrect doses, excessive use in the veterinary field) and measures for its prevention (taking antibiotics only as prescribed by a doctor, completing the full course, observing hygiene rules). It was emphasized that raising public awareness and the responsibility of doctors and pharmacists are also important to solve the problem
