This study examines the linguistic and semantic aspects of English and Uzbek proverbs, aiming to uncover how language reflects cultural values, social norms, and collective human experiences. Proverbs, as concise and fixed expressions of folk wisdom, serve as tools for moral guidance, practical advice, and the transmission of cultural knowledge across generations. The research focuses on both linguistic features including syntax, lexical choices, and stylistic devices such as metaphors, similes, parallelism, and repetition and semantic features, such as meaning, cultural references, ethical lessons, and pragmatic functions. The study employs a comparative-descriptive method, analyzing a corpus of widely recognized English and Uzbek proverbs drawn from authoritative collections and folklore sources. Comparative analysis highlights both universal patterns, such as themes of honesty, diligence, prudence, and moral conduct, and culture-specific differences in expression and thematic focus. English proverbs often convey practical wisdom and personal responsibility, whereas Uzbek proverbs emphasize social harmony, family values, and ethical guidance. The findings demonstrate that proverbs function as both linguistic units and cultural markers, providing insights into the interaction between language, thought, and culture
