Abstract

This article examines the influence of digital media on the development of the English language. The study focuses on the main linguistic changes caused by online communication, especially lexical innovations, syntactic simplification, discourse interactivity and multimodal meaning-making. Digital platforms such as social networks, messengers, blogs, video-sharing services and online learning spaces create a new communicative environment where English is shortened, expanded and reinterpreted according to users' needs. The article argues that digital English should not be viewed only as informal slang or a threat to standard language. It is a functional variety of contemporary English shaped by speed, interaction, technological affordances and global communication. Special attention is also paid to the influence of English digital vocabulary on Uzbek online communication and to the importance of register awareness in English language teaching
