Abstract

Culture shock is a psychological phenomenon that individuals experience when they encounter a new culture that significantly differs from their own. This experience can lead to feelings of disorientation, anxiety, and confusion as individuals navigate unfamiliar social norms, practices, and values. Culture shock typically unfolds in several stages: the honeymoon phase, where initial excitement and fascination dominate; the negotiation phase, characterized by frustration and anxiety; the adjustment phase, where individuals begin to adapt and understand the new culture; and finally, the adaptation phase, where they feel comfortable and integrated into the new environment
