Аннотация

The rapid digitalization of education has reshaped how linguistic knowledge is presented, practiced, and assessed in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms. While digital tools increasingly automate grammar checking, vocabulary retrieval, and pattern recognition, the explicit teaching of linguistic rules and formulaic sequences remains indispensable to learners' long-term communicative competence. This article examines the evolving relationship between rule-based linguistic instruction and digital language technologies, arguing that digitalization does not render grammar teaching obsolete but instead redefines its pedagogical function. Drawing on cognitive and usage-based theories of language acquisition, the article discusses how formulaic language, corpus-informed instruction, and AI-assisted feedback tools can be integrated to support deeper rule internalization rather than passive reliance on automated correction. Practical implications for EFL curriculum design, teacher training, and classroom practice in digitally mediated environments are also discussed
