METHODS OF DEVELOPING ORAL SPEECH THROUGH LISTENING

Abstract

Listening is widely recognized as one of the most important components of foreign language learning, particularly in the development of oral speech. It serves as the main source of language input, allowing learners to become familiar with the sounds, rhythm, and structure of the target language. Without sufficient listening practice, learners often face difficulties in pronunciation, sentence formation, and spontaneous speaking. Therefore, listening should not be treated as an isolated skill but as a foundation for effective oral communication.This article explores various methods of developing oral speech through listening activities. Particular attention is given to techniques that actively connect listening input with speaking output. These include repetition and imitation exercises, listening-based discussions, task-oriented listening activities, and the use of authentic materials such as interviews and audio recordings.
