OVERCOMING BARRIERS TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF DIGITAL WRITING TOOLS IN ACADEMIC CONTEXTS

Abstrak

This article examines the key barriers to the effective implementation of digital writing tools in academic contexts and proposes strategies to overcome them. Despite the growing availability of tools such as Grammarly and AI-based writing assistants, their integration into educational settings remains uneven. The study identifies major challenges, including limited digital literacy among users, lack of institutional support, concerns about academic integrity, and resistance to technological change. Additionally, issues related to accessibility, cost, and over-reliance on automated feedback are discussed. The article argues that overcoming these barriers requires a comprehensive approach involving teacher training, clear guidelines for ethical use, and the development of students’ critical thinking and writing skills. The findings highlight that when implemented thoughtfully, digital writing tools can significantly enhance academic performance and learning outcomes
