A STYLISTIC ANALYSIS OF FEMALE REPRESENTATION IN THE WORKS OF O‘TKIR HOSHIMOV AND MARGARET DRABBLE

Abstrak

This article investigates the stylistic construction of female representation in the prose of O‘tkir Hoshimov and Margaret Drabble within the framework of comparative literary analysis and modern stylistics. The study focuses on how lexical, syntactic, and semantic devices shape the conceptualization of female identity across different socio-cultural contexts. Drawing on theoretical perspectives from Wellek and Warren, Lotman, and Lakoff and Johnson, the research demonstrates that stylistic devices function not merely as aesthetic tools but as carriers of ideological and cultural meaning. While Hoshimov’s narratives employ metaphorical elevation, repetition, and culturally embedded imagery to portray women as moral and familial anchors, Drabble’s works utilize interior monologue, syntactic complexity, and psychological metaphors to construct a more individualized and introspective female identity. The findings highlight the typological similarities and stylistic divergences in female representation, revealing the dynamic interplay between language, culture, and gender discourse in 20th-century realist fiction
