Аннотация

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed the fields of linguistics and translation studies, introducing new possibilities as well as complex academic and ethical concerns. AI-powered technologies such as machine translation systems, natural language processing tools, and generative language models have improved the speed, accessibility, and efficiency of multilingual communication across the world. These innovations are increasingly used in education, professional translation, academic writing, and intercultural communication. However, despite their practical advantages, AI systems still face considerable limitations in understanding cultural context, emotional expression, stylistic individuality, and implicit meaning within language. This study explores the role of AI in translation and linguistics by critically examining both its opportunities and its challenges. Particular attention is given to issues related to linguistic accuracy, preservation of authorial style, ethical responsibility, algorithmic bias, and the growing dependence on automated technologies in language-related professions. The article argues that although AI can greatly support linguistic and translation processes, it cannot fully replace human creativity, cultural awareness, and interpretative competence. The study concludes that a balanced collaboration between human expertise and artificial intelligence is essential for achieving accurate, ethical, and culturally sensitive communication in the digital era
