Аннотация

The assessment of communicative competence has become one of the central concerns in modern language education. Unlike traditional language testing, which mainly focuses on grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure, the evaluation of communicative competence requires a broader and more integrated approach. This article explores the main ways of assessing communicative competence in foreign language learning, emphasizing the importance of measuring learners’ ability to use language effectively and appropriately in real-life contexts. The study examines various assessment methods such as oral interviews, role plays, presentations, group discussions, listening and speaking tasks, portfolio assessment, self-assessment, peer assessment, and performance-based evaluation. The article also highlights the significance of assessing grammatical, sociolinguistic, discourse, and strategic competences as interconnected components of communication. Using descriptive and analytical methods, the paper demonstrates that effective assessment should reflect authentic communication and encourage learners to develop practical language skills
