CONCEPTUALIZATION OF MODERN BORROWINGS IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK LINGUISTIC CONSCIOUSNESS

Abstract

This article examines the conceptualization of modern lexical borrowings in English and Uzbek linguistic consciousness from the perspective of cognitive linguistics. In the conditions of globalization, technological development, and active intercultural communication, lexical borrowing has become one of the most productive processes in language development. English, as a global language, serves as a major source of new lexical units that enter the Uzbek language, particularly in the fields of technology, business, media, and digital communication. The study analyzes how borrowed lexical items are perceived, interpreted, and integrated into the conceptual system of speakers. Special attention is given to cognitive mechanisms such as conceptual categorization, semantic reinterpretation, and contextual adaptation of borrowed vocabulary. The research demonstrates that modern borrowings undergo not only phonetic and semantic adaptation but also cognitive integration into the linguistic consciousness of speakers, which reflects broader linguistic, cultural, and communicative transformations in contemporary society
