The rapid expansion of digital communication has transformed linguistic practices and reshaped how individuals perform identity in online environments. This study provides a qualitative synthesis of high-impact sociolinguistic and computational research published between 2003 and 2024 examining gender-based variation in online discourse. Drawing on peer-reviewed corpus analyses and computer-mediated discourse studies, the review focuses on communicative purpose, linguistic style, emotional expression, topic orientation, and platform-specific interactional strategies. Findings indicate recurring tendencies: women more frequently employ relational, affective, and politeness-oriented language, whereas men tend to adopt informational, concise, and debate-driven styles. However, these differences are not deterministic; they are mediated by context, platform architecture, and sociocultural expectations. The study concludes that gendered language use in digital environments is best understood as probabilistic and socially constructed rather than fixed or biologically determined
