This article provides an in-depth analysis of the theoretical foundations and practical significance of using PIRLS (Progress in International Reading Literacy Study) tasks in primary school reading lessons, as well as the pressing issues that arise during their implementation. The role of PIRLS tasks in developing students’ reading literacy, comprehension, analytical, and evaluative skills is substantiated. In addition, based on current educational requirements, effective methodological solutions to the identified problems are proposed
