LINGUISTIC AND STYLISTIC FEATURES OF HUMOR IN MARK TWAIN’S WORKS

Abstract

This article is devoted to the analysis of linguistic and stylistic features of humor in Mark Twain’s works. Mark Twain is known as one of the greatest American writers whose humor reflects social life, human nature, and moral values of his time. In this research, I focus on the main language tools and stylistic devices that create humorous effect in his texts. The article examines irony, satire, exaggeration, dialect usage, wordplay, and other expressive means that Twain uses to criticize society and show reality in a comic way. Special attention is given to how the author uses colloquial speech and regional dialects to make his characters more realistic and humorous. Through this analysis, I aim to show that Twain’s humor is not only for entertainment but also carries deep social meaning and criticism
